At Cornell Center Animal Hospital, we work hard to make sure that every surgery performed in our hospital is as positive and stress-free an experience as possible for both pet owners and animals alike.
Some of the more common surgeries we perform include routine spay and neuters and mass removals. We are also equipped to conduct emergency surgery, should the need arise. We strive to always meet the highest standards for veterinary surgery protocol and safety, so your pet will be in excellent hands with our surgical team.
If surgery is recommended for your pet, the first step is conducting a thorough evaluation to make sure they are healthy to proceed. This is particularly important for older animals or those that suffer from existing health problems. Then our team will begin by developing a customized pain management plan, utilizing only the safest available anesthetic products and tailoring the approach to your pet’s unique needs. We want to keep your pet comfortable while also reducing risk.
During surgery, your pet will have their own personal veterinary assistant, who will closely monitor their wellbeing. Once surgery has been completed, your pet will be moved to our comfortable recovery area. We will reach out to update you on how everything went and let you know when your pet will be ready to go home.
In many cases, surgical patients are ready to go home the same day as surgery. When you arrive to pick up your pet, we will explain our post-surgical care instructions, which may include a plan for pain control to make your pet’s recovery at home more comfortable.
