Did you know that companion animals can suffer from many of the same dermatological problems that humans can, including allergies and infections? Pets that suffer from skin conditions also experience many of the same unpleasant symptoms that come along with them, which can ultimately diminish their quality of life. Cornell Center Animal Hospital offers professional veterinary dermatology services to help our patients enjoy happier, more comfortable lives.
Our doctors are trained to recognize, diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions, disorders and diseases that affect the skin, ears, nose and feet. These conditions may include, but are not limited to:
The routine dermatological services we perform to evaluate and diagnose our patients include comprehensive examinations, skin scrapings, cytologic evaluations, skin cultures, allergy testing and biopsies.
Treatment options we utilize to address various dermatological problems include topical creams, oral medications, therapies, and in some cases, surgery. We may also recommend making some changes at home to help alleviate the symptoms your pet may be experiencing. In many cases, making simple modifications to diet and removing certain common household items that may be acting as irritants to your pet can reduce or eliminate the problem altogether, without the need for medical intervention.
